Out of the Blue - (Exhibtion now finished)
"Out of the Blue"was my exhibtion at Art@203 (see link below). It ran Sunday Feb 19th - Saturday March 10th 2012.
This series of sea creatures and fantastical fishes in inspired by my childhood years, sitting on a jetty or perched on a rock, dangling a hook into the river or deep blue ocean, never knowing what was waiting down there. The controlled excitement of the first nibble, the battle to keep the fish from wrapping line round the nearest snag, the moment of anticipation as you waited to see what was going to appear from the depths ... “out of the blue” as it were.
“Out of the Blue” is dedicated to my Mum and Dad, who put that first line in my hand, who patiently helped to bait hooks and remove wriggling fish from lines... who put a mask and snorkel on me and showed me that other world that exists under the water.... and who taught me to respect the sea and all the myriad life that lives in it. This exhibition is my appeal for fair fishing, both on a personal and commercial level.

TRIFOCAL( Exhibition now finished) - Suter Gallery McKee Room - Tues Feb 25th to Sunday March 16th .... an exhibition of paintings by three very diverse artists ... Lyn Broughton, Nick Duncan and William Hunt. Opening Night is Tuesday Feb. 25 th at 5.30pm. The exhibition runs through to Sunday march 16th. Do pop along and have a look. .....For one section of this exhibition I have combined two of the things I love greatly in life, fishing and food, and have created a series of fanciful “Fish Platters”.. Another series of paintings continue my exploration of the theme of “Lost Reflections” ... images of the Huia, male and female, often intertwined as a refection of each other.... and now sadly lost from our forests forever.
